Isles of Scilly 2008

Posted by NickB on November 13, 2007

Nick and Annette are organising the annual Port of Plymouth Canoeing Association trip to the Isles of Scilly from July 25th to August 8th 2008.  Bookings now being taken! details and application forms from http://www.ppca-canoe-club.org.uk/

A great chance for sea kayaking and walking although I haven’t got a clue about the climbing! From a sea paddling point of view you don’t need great experience if the conditions are right:

The conditions can however be more challengine if that is your ‘cup of tea’.  A paddle around Hell Bay or maybe out to the Bishop Rock Lighthouse could test the best!

The camp is a tented ‘village’ with ‘scout’ style patrol tents fitted with wooden floors, facilities are generally basic but more than adequate.  We have booked the ‘Island View’ site and details can be found at: http://www.cornwall.gov.uk/media/pdf/t/8/pelistry07_1.pdf

If anyone is interested in going on the PPCA Scilly trip for next year it would be a good idea to register an interest with Nick or Annette sooner rather than later.
